The Big Move

We left Texas during the Labor day weekend. We arrived on Sunday night in White Rock (Los Alamos) New Mexico and had the U-Hual unloaded by Monday. We spent the rest of the week unpacking boxes (there were alot!) and trying to find a place for their contents in our new home! We started our first "real weekend" off with a bang, BBQ-ing with friends on Saturday and enjoying the the mountain scenery on Sunday. We drove down to the Valles Caldera and took a tour of the beautiful land. It was breathtaking! This is still a working ranch of which each year people bid to be the next ranchers able to call this their "spread". We asked our tour guide how much this past years' bid ran for and he said around $ 65,000. WOW! That's alot of money, but worth every penny when it comes to this place! While driving through this spectacular valley, we spotted some of the elk that call the caldera
home.

We finished the tour and decided to drive a bit further to grab a bite to eat in Jemez Springs. Great food!

We were so full from lunch that we needed a short hike to help with the drowsiness. This brought even more beautiful scenery.

Back down the mountain we went.

With just enough daylight left, Daniel and Cooder decided to bathe the car. All in all, it was a great weekend and as for the Big Move, well, let's just say it has been a big success!
